What NZCAM is
What is NZCAM?
NZCAM is a real-time face swap, voice cloning and live voice translation app for desktop. It runs as a virtual camera and a virtual microphone, so a single source photo becomes a live face swap, a short audio clip becomes your cloned voice, and your speech can be translated as you talk, in any video-call, streaming or recording app.
What is a real-time face swap?
A real-time face swap replaces the face in a live camera feed with another face, frame by frame, as the video is captured, so it works on a call or a stream rather than in an editor afterwards. NZCAM does it from one photo of the face you want, keeps your own expressions on it, and sends the result to any app as a virtual camera.
Is NZCAM a real-time deepfake app?
People often search for a live face swap as a 'real-time deepfake'. NZCAM is a real-time face swap and voice cloning app for creative use: you pick a photo and a voice clip, and it transforms your live camera and microphone for streams, videos and calls.
What is a live avatar?
A live avatar is a face that moves with you on camera, in real time. In NZCAM the avatar comes from a single photo (realistic, or stylised as anime or cartoon) and follows your blinks, smiles and head movement live, with a matching cloned voice if you want one.
Can I use face swap and voice change at the same time?
Yes. The face and voice pipelines run in parallel, so your appearance and your voice are transformed together in the same live session.
Do I need a video or many photos to set it up?
No. NZCAM works from a single source photo (load several to switch between on the fly), so there is no dataset to gather and no training step before you go live.
Works in any app
Does NZCAM work with my app?
Yes, if the app lets you pick a camera or a microphone, which almost every one does. Press Go live and NZCAM appears as a normal webcam (NZCAM) and microphone, so Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Google Meet, Discord, WhatsApp, streaming software and everything else can use it with one click. No plugin, no routing.
Does NZCAM work in Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Google Meet, Discord and WhatsApp?
Yes, the same way in each: in the app's video and audio settings, choose NZCAM as the camera and CABLE Output as the microphone. Browser-based calls work too, because the browser's camera picker sees the same devices.
Which microphone do I pick in my call app?
CABLE Output (VB-Audio Virtual Cable). It is the virtual microphone that carries your cloned or translated voice: VB-Audio's free, Microsoft-signed virtual cable, which the NZCAM installer sets up (or the app, the first time you need it). The camera to pick is the one named NZCAM.
Does the other person need to install anything?
No. The people on your call or watching your stream see an ordinary video and hear ordinary audio; everything happens on your side.
Can I use NZCAM for streaming?
Yes. Any streaming or recording software that lets you choose a camera and a microphone can use the NZCAM camera and the virtual microphone, CABLE Output, so you go live with a swapped face and a cloned voice on any platform.
Is there a portrait (vertical) camera?
Yes. Turn on Portrait under Advanced Settings and a second device, NZCAM Portrait, presents your feed framed upright for apps that show video vertically.
Face swap
How long does it take to set up a face swap?
About as long as it takes to pick a photo. There is no dataset to gather and no model to train: load a source photo, press Go live, and the swap runs on your webcam feed.
Can I switch between several faces while live?
Yes. Load several source photos and switch between them on the fly, or average a few photos of one person for a steadier result across lighting and angles.
Is it really real-time?
Yes. The pipeline is tuned for real time, so your swap tracks your expressions live, with Fast, Balanced and Quality presets.
Will my swapped face still blink and show expressions?
Yes. NZCAM's Expression Restorer carries your real blinks, smiles and micro-expressions onto the swapped face, so it stays lively and natural instead of looking frozen.
Can I turn my face into an anime or cartoon character?
Yes. The built-in Stylize filter applies real-time anime and cartoon looks, from soft painterly styles to bold cel-shaded looks, live on your camera feed, on top of or instead of a face swap.
Can I fine-tune the look?
Absolutely. Switch swap models and resolution, add face enhancement, restore expressions, reshape the face, adjust age, match skin tone and sharpness, and finish with cinematic colour looks, all with simple sliders.
Can I face swap a video file, not just a live camera?
Yes. Image/Video mode processes a photo or a video file to a file with the same engines, including expression restoration, enhancement and cinematic colour looks.
Voice cloning and translation
How does the voice cloning work?
Load a short audio clip of the voice you want. NZCAM learns that voice from the sample, then converts your live speech into it in real time and feeds it to a virtual microphone. Clone on this PC with your own graphics card for free, or on the cloud for credits. No studio and no script to read.
Is the cloned voice real-time?
Yes. Live mode speaks as you talk, in the sample's voice, keeping your own pace and timing. Accent mode adds the sample's accent.
Can NZCAM translate my voice live on a call?
Yes. Pick the language you speak and the language they should hear, and NZCAM speaks the translation into the virtual microphone as you talk, in a natural voice or in your own cloned voice. It recognises 57 spoken languages and speaks 63 languages and variants.
How is NZCAM's translation different from the captions in Zoom or Teams?
Captions are text that each listener reads in their own app. NZCAM speaks the translation out loud through your microphone, so it works in every app, including ones with no translation feature, and the other side simply hears you in their language, in a natural voice or your own.
Which languages can NZCAM translate?
It recognises speech in 57 languages and speaks the translation in 63 languages and regional variants, including Arabic, Chinese (simplified and traditional), English, French, German, Hindi, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, Thai, Turkish and Vietnamese. Both pickers have a search field.
Performance and platforms
Does it run on my PC or in the cloud?
Both, your choice. NZCAM runs on your own graphics card, or on its cloud engine, which needs no graphics card at all, so any PC, even a small, low-powered laptop, runs it perfectly. Voice translation runs in the cloud.
Do I need a powerful graphics card?
No. With the cloud engine any PC runs NZCAM, even a small, low-powered laptop with no graphics card. With a graphics card, NZCAM can also run on it: TensorRT and CUDA on NVIDIA, DirectML on AMD and Intel.
Which operating systems does NZCAM run on?
Windows 10 and Windows 11, on any PC.
What is the difference between NZCAM Lite and NZCAM?
Both include face swap, live translation, cloud voice cloning and the cloud engine. NZCAM Lite is made for integrated graphics and costs half as much; NZCAM adds the full realism suite (two face enhancers, the Expression Restorer, re-age and Stylize) for dedicated graphics cards.
Will NZCAM work on my laptop?
Yes. Any laptop runs NZCAM with the cloud engine, which needs no graphics card.
Can I call people on phones?
Yes. Call them from WhatsApp, Telegram, Viber, Signal or Messenger on your PC: on their Android or iPhone they see your new face and hear your new voice.
What languages is NZCAM available in?
English, Arabic, Chinese, Finnish, French, German, Hebrew, Indonesian, Italian, Khmer, Korean, Portuguese (Brazil), Russian, Spanish and Thai.
Is NZCAM available in French?
Yes. The app's interface is available in French, along with 14 other languages, and live translation speaks French and Canadian French. Accent mode works when you speak French too.
Pricing
Is it free to try?
Yes. Every edition is free to download and try, with no sign-up. Plans start at US$5 a week.
How much does NZCAM cost?
NZCAM Lite is US$5 a week or US$10 a month in credits, and NZCAM is US$10 a week or US$20 a month; unlimited plans and one-time credit top-ups are also available. The current plans are always on the pricing section of the home page.
Does NZCAM require a subscription?
No. Plans are one-time payments for a week, a month or a year, and nothing renews unless you buy again.
How do the credits work?
Credits are used only while you are live, at the same rate in every edition. The cloud engine, cloud voice cloning, Accent mode and translation draw from the same balance by the second, and the app shows the rate before you start.
Do I pay for the cloud separately?
No separate subscription. The cloud engine, cloud voice cloning and voice translation draw credits by the second from the same balance as everything else, and the app shows the rate before you start.
Is there recurring billing, and can I remove my card?
No recurring billing: every purchase is a one-time charge. Auto top-up is the only automatic charge, and only if you switch it on yourself; your billing page lets you turn it off or remove the saved card at any time.
